  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup (67g) dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (100g) dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups (195g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine melted butter, dark brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir in pecan halves until coated.
  3. In another bowl, cream room temperature butter with dark brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup; mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon; mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in the pecan mixture into the dough.
  6. Spread in a greased 9×9 inch baking pan; bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. For icing, whisk together powdered sugar, melted butter, maple syrup, and milk until smooth; drizzle over cooled bars.
